To make a single wine each harvest, in limited quantities, demands high standards year after year.

The complexity and balance between fruit and wood which makes VALENCISO different can only be achieved by meticulous selection of grapes and the best barrels.Our work in the vineyards aims for the highest quality possible; barrels are sourced from the best French coopers, and we condense all of our know-how into making just the one wine.Dedication, hard work, worry and satisfaction, good days and bad ones: it’s all worth it. Our reward is in the recognition we get for our wine; in the enjoyment we share with you when you see our bodega, and in being able to offer you VALENCISO.

We think and we work in the long term. For this reason we ask a reasonable price for such high quality. The wine is worth the price, as critics and fans of wine have clearly noticed.

VALENCISO, a different and surprising Rioja, elegant, tasty and aroma-filled, a wine which is not heavy in the mouth but which fills it with aromas. It is subtle yet has a firmness that enables it to age well, for many years. Long and persistent, balanced, rich and full of nuances: a wine which opens up in the glass.

 

TECHNICAL

VARIETIES:Exclusively Tempranillo from Rioja Alta vineyards, grown in “Sustainable and Reasoned Vineyards”.

VINIFICATION:Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks.

AGEING:17 months in French oak barrels less than 3 years old; one third of which are renewed annually.

ALCOHOL CONTENT:14%

SERVING TEMPERATURE:15 to 17ºC

SENSE OF TASTE

VALENCISO is elegant, tasty, a wine that is not heavy in the mouth yet which fills it with aromas. It is subtle yet has a firmness that enables it to age well, for many years.

 

Its taste is indicative of not only how the Atlantic influence softens the Rioja Alta climate but also of the generous clay-limestone soil, whose acidity makes the wine lively and full of vibrant aromas.

VALENCISO WHITE 2015

We make very little white wine.We cultivate very old clay-limestone vineyards of exceptional quality in Rioja Alta, planted according to the customs of the time, in which there were always a small portion of white vines in the vineyard.

In addition to Viura – the predominant variety in Rioja whites – we also have Garnacha Blanca (White Grenache).

The wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels from the Caucasus.

It’s a distinctive white wine. The White Garnacha makes it richer in the mouth while the Caucasus oak is more subtle, accompanying rather than overpowering.

VINIFICATION:Fermented in oak barrels from the Caucasus.

AGEING:9 months in barrel.

SERVING TEMPERATURE:8 to 10º C

SENSE OF TASTE

Delicate fruit tones which are reticent at first but which open up in a lively way bringing light dairy and spicy notes with the wood making itself delicately noticeable. Long, full-bodied and elegant. It is well-structured with excellent acidity and solid firmness, but also rich and honeyed.
